‘The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you in power, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be a changed person‘
God’s Holy Spirit is seen as the instigator of change. The Spirit activates the circumcision of the hardened heart. The rebirth, the renewal. Without the Spirit, given through faith In Christ, have we changed? Or are we unknowingly resisting the Holy Spirit (Acts 7:51)? Christ himself states unless you are born again you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven. King Saul experienced a heart change in his life. It was even accompanied by signs such as prophecy. But by the end of his life he falls far short of the mark in disobeying God. To the point of God rejecting him.Receiving the Spirit is the beginning of the journey, following Christ, fighting the good fight of faith, denying oneself and obeying the commandment of Love is the journey itself. Christ at work in us. Obedience and a willingness to follow Christ (rather than ourselves) is part of the commitment to change. Have you experienced change? And are you following Christ or like King Saul are you running the risk of following yourself? Rather than simply believing Jesus exists (even Demons manage that – Jam 2:19), instead be a follower of Jesus and experience ongoing spiritual change.
