Separating Light from Dark – Gen 1:4

God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness” Genesis 1:4

The Light of the World

The book of Genesis opens with reference to Light. The Apostle John also refers to Light in his own Spirit driven teachings. ‘The Light has come to the earth but darkness has not understood it’ (Jn 1:5). ‘God is light in Him there is no darkness at all’ (1 Jn 1:5). The Apostle Matthew would also draw allusion to Isaiah; “The people living in darkness have seen a  great light” (Mt 4:16).

The Apostle Paul in the book of Acts witnesses to his encounter with the Divine risen Lord, ‘My companions led me by the hand into Damascus, because the brilliance of the light had blinded me’ (Acts 22:11).

From the very beginning God proclaims that the Light is Good and will be eternally separated from the dark. The Genesis of creation itself testifies of such. Light will have no part of dark. They simply do not inter whine. Two diametrically opposing paradigms. As dusk brings the light of day, and darkness concedes to the light, so to when Christ entered the world the darkness could not comprehend Him. God incarnate had arrived on earth. To separate the Light from the Dark.  To bring to light the deeds of darkness and shine the light of righteousness. To Shine Christ into the hearts of men.

Have you been separated? Is the Light of Christ in you and thus God considers you now – Good. No longer a part of the darkness, no longer a part of the problem, rather a child of the light – part of the solution. Your good deeds shining as praise to your Father in Heaven. Let the light come in – His Name is Jesus Christ. He stands and knocks and waits for you to open. Let Him shine through you; let Him separate you from the darkness within.
