Introduction to Mark’s Gospel

Mark’s Gospel is a simple, succinct, unadorned, yet vivid account of Jesus’ ministry, emphasizing more what Jesus did than what he said. Mark moves quickly from one episode in Jesus’ life and ministry to another, often using the adverb “immediately” (NIV Study Bible).

The Gospel of Mark is the shortest of all the four Gospels. It is often referred to as the Gospel of Action. It portrays Jesus Christ’s life in action. The practical aspects of his ministry. Mark takes us on a trip with the Messiah as He travels toward the ultimate salvation of Humankind. Mark is less interested in exhortation or teaching, Mark wants you to know this incredible life that helped the poor one day, drove out a demonic hoard the next or debated with the Theological overlords the following.

Get ready to meet The Christ of Action, Power and Mercy. The one who would proclaim “The time has come, The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”
